Photos of Kitchie Nadal

In my last post, I told you that Kitchie Nadal jammed with Novus Luna with MGX at Freedom Bar, Anonas. Her voice is so golden and distinct. Starstruck, I was!

Novus Luna with MGX: Taking the City by Storm!

Margaux (MGX) and I belong to the same music organization back in college (UP Music Circle). When I learned that she's now part of the band - Novus Luna, I got excited. I told her, "I can't wait to watch your gig!" When she told me they will be playing at Freedom Bar, Anonas,  I didn't hesitate to go. (even if I had to submit a 100 page school assignment the next day.) It was a great gig. They played their latest single - "Ayoko." Kitchie Nadal even jammed with the band. It was that awesome.

How to Save at McDonalds

"The only sure way to double your money right now
is to fold it in half and put it back in your wallet."
- Rick Warren

McDonalds represents all the arguable evils of global capitalism. They will do everything to get your money. Here are some tips on how you can save money at McDo:

1. Don't go to McDonalds.
If you are already there, don't order anything.

2. Ask for more.
If you have to order anything, make sure to ask for more. More sugar, more creamer, more stirrer, more salt, more gravy, more pancake syrup, more tissue. Go find yourself a seat, then go back to the counter then ask for more. Keep on asking until they refuse to give you anymore, which usually doesn't happen. Bring home what you can't consume.

Coffee is refillable. They don't advertise that but it's true. You just have to insist.

When ordering drinks, ask the crew to fill the cup to the brink and not to put ice. If you want ice on your drink, order it on a separate cup.

When ordering fries, ask the crew to put more. Don't forget to always ask for a ketchup container. Don't put your ketchup on a tissue. Tissue contains bleach which is toxic.

3. Use and maximize McDo facilities.
Stay at McDo for as long as you can. Some McDo are open 24 hours with free internet. Try not to order anything. If you have to buy something, just buy coffee. If you want to study in McDo for long hours, invest in good pair of earplugs. They crank up the volume of their speakers whenever they want their customers to leave.

Don't leave your things unattended. McDonalds has a lot of incidences of  theft. Remember this, "You can't trust a clown."

Hope this helps,

Cheerio!

On the Real End of the World

Really now.
In my last post, I showed the alarm clocks I have hoarded to help me wake up early. It didn't work. I turned off each clock unconsciously and snoozed my way back to sleep until it was late in the morning. I was out of control like a zombie.

Speaking of zombies, my mom is now hooked to Plants vs. Zombies. She would often dethrone me from the computer chair saying, "Anak alis. Maglalaro na ako ng Plants vs. Zombie.  Ako na diyan sa computer."

I've finished plants and zombies even before it became popular. With the way my mom is playing, I'm sure she wouldn't finish the game. She's always planting the wrong plants!! hehe

Talk about wrongs. Wrong prediction, ain't the end of the world yet as predicted by Harold Comping - radio host and leader of an obscure Christian movement who started all the loony fuss.

The date of "real" end of the world began ever since you decided to give up on life. The world has ended ever since you who allowed "gatekeepers" to tell you what to do, what to believe, how much to give, and whom to give it. The world has ended ever since you believed something's always gonna get you -- like the "end of the world is near." or "zombies are outside the lawn to get your brain."

The world has ended ever since your only goal in life was to be rewarded a life in Heaven at the expense of living your life on earth to be fully human.

On Respect and Law Profs

"Intelligence is when you spot a flaw in your boss's reasoning.
Wisdom is when you refrain from pointing it out."
-James Dent

Our class volunteered to prepare materials for those who are going to take the upcoming bar exams. It was just like a camaraderie building activity. Our professor became the topic of discussion at one point, so I was listening keenly on what my classmates had to say:

"He's such an ass."
"He always makes fun of us."
"He has an "F defect!" He pronounces f as p as in "suffort for support and haffen for happen."
"He has problems with his  subject verb agreements, how can he write a book?"

Frankly, I don't mind the occasional lapses in our prof's grammar. Everyone makes mistakes once in a while. Only Grammar Nazzis take pride in  spreading those kinds of negativity. Unless your job is a copy editor paid to massacre another person's work, I believe in the exercise of tolerance and diplomacy.

Maybe my classmates were so quick to point out the negative about our professor because of  lack of
respect.  True, professors can be authoritative in class by using an overblown, swaggering style in conducting recitations (as most law professors often do), but that in itself, does not guarantee respect.

Respect shows one's greatness. It is shown by being fair and just. It is shown by being calm under pressure. You know you are respected when people look up to you. They want to be like you because they have faith in your ability  to impart knowledge and simplify what is hard and complex.

We treat people with civility in general, but genuine respect emanates out of concern and empathy. It is measured by how we treat our co-equals and most especially, our subordinates.

Genuine respect is earned, not demanded. It is so easy to forget, especially for teachers of  law who are so concerned with "putting on a show,"  rather than teaching. They forget that by treating  their students like crap - they will get the same crap -  maybe not inside the classroom, but once they turn their back.

Good Times With College Friends

Marian, Mymy, Glen
I have a lurking quiz this Monday that requires days of studying. There's also voluminous writing assignments on Legal Forms due next week. Progress report - zero. Haven't started doing anything yet. No worries, though. I won't let law school get into the way of spending good times with my friends.

You know, if there's one thing in life I've learned, this is one: Never trade great moments and events in life for regular academic assignments. At the end of the day, it's not the recitations nor the exams in class that you will cherish - it's the moments you spent with your friends and love ones that count. Like my great friend Jok used to say back in college, "It's all in the management."

I am proud of my college friends and what they have become. They are now successful in their careers - and pushing more to achieve more successes. Keep it up guys!

Rendezvous was at Sarah's Bar in the heart of C.P. Garcia, UP Diliman.

Cheerio!

Yellow Things

The rain had just stopped, the sky cleared and the sun beamed. I realized there are things we don't see until we choose to see them. This time, yellow things.

That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd just run across Greenbow County. And I figured, since I run this far, maybe I'd just run across the great state of Alabama. And that's what I did. I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on going. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on going - Forrest Gump.
